about

A molotov cocktail served in a martini glass.

Our first live album couldn't have been sourced from a better show. Our Laurels of the End of History release show, our saxophonist Sean's inaugural show, our unofficial "anniversary" (of our first live show and of my debut album), and of course our farewell show for Aron, Diego, and Jack (who sadly could not perform). A reflection on our past, the culmination of our growth (with regards to studio AND live performance), and a crossroads for our future.

Seven people gather on a tiny stage to give everything into this one performance, and each of their musical backgrounds blends together to create an aggressively singular sound which has been carefully curated with Monty Cime at the helm. After a year of transforming and refining my songs for the medium of live performance, our live sound has become virtually unrecognizable from our studio albums, and yet the direction taken feels more than natural; it's as though this is how we were always meant to sound.

Live albums have the tendency to be viewed as supplemental material for fans, but Frida and the Filibusters is essential listening; just like any Latin and/or jazz fan knows, the live albums are always the best. Defiantly uncharacterizable, even when compared to the rest of the Cime discography, calling Frida a live recording is heart-wrenchingly misleading--this recording is Alive, and you can feel it breathing down your neck while its heartbeat shakes your room.
